Believe it or not, but this is a Spotted Blue-eye, Pseudomugil gertrudae, habitat too. Nothing more than a water filled wheel rut on the track to Running Creek near Weipa, Cape York. The water was seeping from the ground and10cm deep at most, but home to many blue-eyes, some half-sized Banded Rainbowfish, Melanotaenia nigrans, and a few Poreless Gudgeons, Oxyeleotris nullipora, 4cm at full size. The shot was taken in early July by none other than F-P Müllenholz. - Gunther Schmida 2021
