Cyprinodon radiosus - The Owens Vally Pupfish

ALL HANDS ON DECK.

California Assemby Bill AB2001 will be brought up for discussion This Thursday March 21st. Our Assembleman Devon Mathis ® could use some support from our democratic friends outside of Inyo County. This Bill is a small language change that will allow our CA Fish and Game to permit our Bishop Piute Tribe to conduct necessary activities for creating a viable Owens Valley Pupfish population on tribal land (contrary to the wishes of LADWP might I add.)I am happy to send info to any Californians on the pupfish list. FB doesn't support pdf files so please email me directly. A simple I support AB2001 to more assembly persons across the state will go a long way to see this get past committee. Please also share this info with other aquarist and Native fish enthusiasts. Sorry time is short yet this has been 3 years wanting. Paiutes are shorthanded and just got this out late Friday.

Changes include: [Department of Fish and Game] may authorize the taking of a fully protected fish or necessary scientific research- research or for efforts to recover fully protected, threatened or endangered species... (3) A legally imported protected fish may be possessed under permit issued by the department:

  • Colorado River squawfish (Ptychocheilus lucius).
  • Thicktail chub (Gila crassicauda).
