spathula
American Paddlefish

Found in the Mississippi basin.

"Many years ago I had the opportunity to keep a group of small American Paddlefish in my aquarium.

They were about 15 cm in size and came from a fish farm for pond fish.

In the aquarium, the fish looked like small sharks. It was important that they had enough swimming space and enough to eat. At that age, paddlefish eat all sorts of things: artemia, water fleas, fine flake food etc.

After a few weeks, the fish were moved to a pond.

Paddlefish can grow up to 7 feet long and weigh over 150 pounds, making them one of North America's largest freshwater fish. Sadly, due to habitat loss and overfishing, their numbers have declined, leading to conservation efforts to protect this unique species. " - Oliver Knott
