Freshwater species, tiny fry that need even tinier infusorians such as he brackish species Brachionus plicatilis pictured below.

Rhinogobius giurinus is a synonym for R. similis now (see Suzuki, T., K. Shibukawa, H. Senou & I-S. Chen (2016): Redescription of Rhinogobius similis GILL 1859 (Gobiidae: Gobionellinae), the type species of the genus Rhinogobius GILL 1859, with designation of the neotype. Ichthyological Research; 63 (2): 227–238.)

Michael Taxacher bred and raised it and published an article in a German aquarist magazine: Taxacher, M. (2016): Imposant, aber selten. Haltung und Nachzucht von Rhinogobius giurinus. Aquaristik; 24 (2): 34–37. - Ole Taylor
