Pelvicachromis
Willy Bijker:
They are all Pelvicachromis pulcher, but 2 different strains. The males who are completely red on the belly originate in the Cross River system. Nigeria has no P. kribensis, those are only to be found in Cameroon (those are the former from there, and the were re-named). Nigeria has only P. pulcher and 2 known forms of P. taeniatus (green and yellow).

Michel Keijman:
It was the Twelfth of February 2007 when I was in Cameroon with my good and dear Friends Hans van Heusden, Ngando Jiku Ephisians and Philippe Djemba. We where driving on a dusty road from Edea towards Yabassi and we stopped at the bridge of a small river. The river carried Black water, and from the bridge we could see that there ware some aquatic Plants. We identified them as Crinum natans. Our Cameroonian friends told us that there was a nice Pelvicachromisin this river. So we decided to try our luck over here. But first we had to get the approval of the Chief from this region - and therefore his river. After this matter was solved (financially), we were allowed to enter his river and fish in it. And what we caught here flabbergasted us. We caught fish with colors, as of they where painted by van Gogh or Picasso itself. Nowadays everybody knows this fish under its scientific described name, Pelvicachromis drachenfelsi.
