Morocoto or white cachama (Piaractus orinoquensis) is a species of freshwater Characiform fish genus Piaractus, belonging to the family Serrasalmids. It inhabits tropical aquatic environments in northern South America.

Strange that here in Manaus and the Mmazon region this fish is called 'Tambaqui', while 'Pacu' is the name given to the Metynnis.

Perhaps some collector confused the names and the wrong name stuck.

The fish known as and similar to Colossoma, are known as 'Pacu' everywhere, except the place of origin; the place of origin should know the real original name for the fish!
