"I first saw this species in 1976 when I received some from Melbourne aquarists. The Melbournians knew it was something new and that was pretty much clear to me too. Six years later it was described. Now considered to be endangered by encroaching industrial development and housing in it natural habitat in the Tin Can Bay and Sunshine Coast regions, there may be more fish living in frog ponds now than in the wild." - Gunther Schmida
